Franzi Shorts is an international short film script competition. The winning script will be fully produced in Copenhagen by Franzi Films, in collaboration with Simple Rent. Writers worldwide can submit a 5–30-minute script or a story treatment. All genres are welcome.
Ten finalists will receive personalized feedback in a creative call. One winner will move into full production, with development support, travel to the shoot or premiere, and festival submissions included.
Participants agree to grant production and distribution rights if selected. Deadline to apply: September 15. Winner announced: September 30, 2025.

Franzi Shorts: Screenplay Competition
The Primer Corte 2025 call from Ventana Sur is open to Latin American fiction feature films in advanced post-production (at least 70 % completed). Documentaries and films with international sales agents or previous participation are not eligible.
Registration is free and must be completed by September 5, 2025. A screener with hardcoded English subtitles must be submitted no later than September 20. The film must be in Full HD format, without watermarks or black bars.
Six projects will be selected and screened for sales agents, distributors, and festival programmers during the Ventana Sur market in Buenos Aires. These films will gain exposure via Cinando, qualify for post-production and distribution awards, and be listed in the Industry in Progress catalogue. They may also be considered for the Final Cut section.
Final screening materials (DCP or video file) must be delivered by November 14, 2025. Selected projects will receive up to two complimentary accreditations to attend the event.

SOUTH WINDOW - First cut
The 48th São Paulo International Film Festival introduces the first edition of its Works-in-Progress (WIP) program, targeting Brazilian feature films in advanced stages of post-production. The call is open to fiction, documentary, or animation projects in final phases such as editing, color correction, or sound mixing.
The WIP program aims to provide a platform where filmmakers can showcase their projects to key audiovisual industry professionals, including distributors, festival programmers, and international sales agents. This initiative facilitates the completion, distribution, and promotion of films, enhancing their chances for screening at festivals and international markets.
Applicants must submit technical and artistic sheets, synopses, a film excerpt between 5 and 20 minutes, and optionally, a letter of intent and distribution plan. The submission deadline was July 15, 2025.
During the event, held from October 22 to 25, 2025, selected projects will be presented in exclusive sessions and may compete for awards supporting film completion. This call offers a valuable opportunity for Brazilian filmmakers to advance their works on the international stage.

Mostra WIP
The Ikusmira Berriak 2025 call seeks audiovisual projects in development that bring new perspectives and approaches to contemporary cinema. It is aimed at emerging filmmakers who wish to develop their projects in a professional and collaborative environment. Innovative and original proposals are especially valued, with no limitations on genre or theme. The program provides space, time, context, and resources for the development of the selected projects.

SSIFF - Ikusmira Berriak
The 48 takes place on different weekends in different cities throughout the year. In each city local Film Teams—from beginners to pro's--compete to make a short film in only a weekend! Do you and your friends have what it takes to make a film on the fly?
It all begins with the Friday night Kickoff event when you and teams in your city draw genres out of a hat and receive the required elements for your film.
Then it is off to the races—writing, shooting and editing and doing whatever it takes to submit your short film on Sunday night.
The big payoff is seeing your masterpiece in the big screen at a local theater. Every film, both on-time and late, will screen. There is nothing better than seeing your film with an audience and seeing firsthand how they react to your movie.
At the city awards event, the winning films—as determined by local judges—are announced. More than a dozen awards are given—from Best Acting to Best Directing to the top prize: Best Film.
