Festival International du Cinema de Zagora

Zagora, Morocco

The Zagora International Film Festival was born from a deep desire to create a genuine space for cultural exchange, allowing filmmakers from all over the world to immerse themselves in the Saharan and Amazigh cultures—a living, multidimensional culture that spans cinema, music, the arts of daily life, local cuisine, communal spirit, nature, and values of generosity and hospitality.

Arriving in Zagora is a unique experience for directors and guests, where the encounter goes beyond film screenings to include direct human and cultural interaction with the place and its people, in a context that respects local traditions while celebrating diversity.
The festival covers accommodation, meals, and local transportation within Zagora for all participants, ensuring that filmmakers can fully immerse themselves in the cultural and cinematic experience without logistical concerns."

During the festival, daily excursions are organized to explore the region’s historical and cultural landmarks, including Tamegroute, the Amezrou Kasbah, and the historic Koranic Library, enhancing visitors’ understanding of the rich cultural context the city embodies.

The festival consists of two official sections:
Documentary Competition
Short Film Competition (maximum 15 minutes)

An independent jury is appointed for each category, composed of cinematic and cultural figures, ensuring fair and specialized evaluation for every type of film.

Screenings take place inside the cultural center of Zagora, in addition to open-air screenings in the desert on a large, specially prepared screen. This unique visual and human experience blends cinema with the desert environment, offering both the audience and guests an exceptional moment of film viewing beyond traditional theaters.

In Zagora, cinema becomes a true bridge for dialogue—a space where contemporary creativity meets living heritage, and where images connect with people and place. Participating in this festival is not merely a professional milestone, but a complete cultural and aesthetic experience that leaves a lasting impact on memory and imagination, giving films a human dimension that transcends the screen.

The festival invites all filmmakers and cineastes to embark on this artistic adventure in the heart of the desert, where stories are born from silence and cinema is told through the language of the land, light, and human presence.

The International Imago Film Festival was born with the idea of promoting cinema, especially independent cinema, by encouraging research and experimentation with cinematographic language.

The idea of the festival was born from the meeting of IMAGO with the city of Civitella del Tronto, where the award-winning film "The right to happiness" by Claudio Rossi Massimi was made by IMAGO.

After the first two editions in the wonderful setting of Civitella del Tronto, the Festival has moved to the Municipality of Teramo with a broad cultural program, full of new features that go beyond national borders and that strengthens and highlights this fascinating bond.

BIO FILM FESTIVAL (2026)

Agricultural and environmental biodiversity is an invaluable heritage, entrusted to us and essential for the future of our planet. It is deeply connected to the health of ecosystems, but also to our cultures, economies, and ways of living. Now in its fourth edition, the Bio Film Festival 2026 continues its commitment to raising awareness about biodiversity and fostering a shared responsibility for its protection.

Building on the path traced in previous years, the festival further explores ecological regeneration as both a necessity and a possibility. Through a curated selection of films that address the fragile balance of natural systems, the consequences of climate change, and regenerative practices in agriculture and land stewardship, the Bio Film Festival invites audiences to reflect, connect, and imagine alternative futures. Cinema becomes a tool for observation, dialogue, and transformation.

Set in the evocative province of Belluno, surrounded by the Dolomites—recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site—the festival takes place in the village of Sospirolo. Here, an open-air cinema immersed in nature offers a powerful and immersive viewing experience, where landscape and storytelling resonate with one another.

The Bio Film Festival 2026 presents documentaries, short fiction films, and animated works from around the world, each offering a unique perspective on biodiversity and environmental sustainability. Together, these films form a collective narrative that speaks to urgency, resilience, and hope. Awards will be presented during the closing ceremony for Best Documentary, Best Short Film, and Best Animated Short, honoring filmmakers whose work engages with environmental and social challenges.

The festival’s logo—depicting a child bringing life back to a grey, depleted world—remains a strong symbol of regeneration, care, and future possibility. The Bio Film Festival 2026 reaffirms itself as a space for encounter, education, and creative action, dedicated to nurturing a deeper relationship between humans and the living world.
