The Italians Doc It Better is a call for Italian documentary projects to be presented at the MIA Market 2025 in Rome (October 6-10, 2025). It targets producers with documentaries in post-production, rough cut, or finished stages that have not yet been publicly screened or distributed.
The goal is to promote Italian documentary cinema by offering a platform to showcase projects and facilitate international distribution across cinemas, TV, and streaming platforms. Eligible projects include feature-length documentaries, docuseries, and single documentary films for television.
The submission deadline is August 10, 2025. Selected projects will gain exposure to industry professionals, distributors, and broadcasters, increasing their chances for co-production and distribution deals.

MIA - Italians Doc It Better
Women Work in Progress is an initiative of the Cerdanya Film Festival (Spain) aimed at female filmmakers under the age of 30 who lead audiovisual projects in post-production. The program provides mentoring, professional guidance, and the opportunity to present projects to industry experts, helping participants strengthen their projects and expand their opportunities for funding, distribution, and exhibition.
The call is open internationally and welcomes fiction, documentary, animation, series, and transmedia projects, provided they are in the post-production stage. Eligible formats include short films, feature films, and other audiovisual works covered by the program guidelines.
The submission deadline is April 15, 2026. Selected projects will participate in activities held during the Cerdanya Film Festival, taking place from August 1 to August 16, 2026, in Puigcerdà, Spain.

FICC - Women WIP
The Extremadura Film Residency is an international development lab for feature film projects in the development stage. The program is open to filmmakers from Spain, Extremadura, Portugal, and Ibero-America, accepting fiction, documentary, and animation projects. Over the course of one year, participants receive tailored mentoring, script and project development support, in-person residencies, online consultations, and access to industry activities, including participation in MAFIZ at the Málaga Film Festival and other professional events.
The 2026–2027 call for applications is open from July 1 to September 1, 2026. The residency program runs from November 2026 through November 2027, combining on-site sessions with online mentoring. The program is exclusively focused on feature-length projects in development and is designed to strengthen their creative vision while supporting financing, production planning, and international market positioning.

Extremadura Film Residency
Som Cinema Lab/Pro is an initiative of the Som Cinema Festival aimed at screenwriters and directors from the Terres de Ponent region. Its goal is to support the development of short films in Catalan at the script stage, offering collaborative workshops to improve and refine selected projects.
The call is open from June 13 to September 5, 2025. The workshops will take place from October 22 to 26 during the main days of the festival. Projects must be fiction and written in Catalan. There is no specific genre, so dramas, comedies, thrillers, narrative animation, and other fiction styles are welcome.
Selected projects will receive professional mentoring and have the opportunity to screen their short film in future editions of the festival. The winner will participate in the Talent Meeting at the Galacticat Festival 2026, while finalists will attend the Animac Festival 2026. The initiative aims to promote local talent, strengthen Catalan audiovisual culture, and foster collaboration among participants.

Som Cinema Lab/Pro
The 8th ZINEBI Networking Professional Forum 2025 is aimed at emerging filmmakers and production companies from Spain, including the Basque Country, with feature-length documentary projects of at least 60 minutes. Submissions are accepted in development or post-production, with a creative, author-driven approach to non-fiction.
Selected projects receive personalized mentorship, one-on-one sessions with industry professionals, and presentations to a specialized jury. Travel, accommodation, and per diem expenses are covered for one accredited person per project, providing visibility and professional support throughout the project’s development.
Three awards of €10,000 each will be granted: one for Basque projects, one for the rest of Spain, and one specifically for projects in development. Online follow-up sessions are also provided to support project completion and professional growth. The forum takes place within the framework of the festival’s 67th edition, including private screenings and networking opportunities with the national documentary industry.
