After the peace agreements, the Government of Colombia commissions the sculptor Doris Salcedo to make a work of art with the weapons handed over by the FARC guerrilla and to melt them in large furnaces. The sculptor invites women victims of sexual violence of all the actors of the conflict (FARC, paramilitaries, Army) to hammer and forge the metal resulting from the burning of the weapons. The result is a catharsis that empowers them; they leave behind the pain and demand justice, while giving us a lesson in reconciliation and peace. As one of them states, "if weapons can be melted, the hatred of this country can also be melted.
